Carol Anderson set to retire after 45 years at The Bank of Elk River

In 1976, Carol Anderson worked at Barney’s Restaurant when Milt Dwyer, President of The Bank of Elk River, stopped by for lunch. By the end of lunch, Milt had offered Carol a job, and her career in banking began.

Her first job as a bookkeeper started at The Bank of Elk River at 630 Main Street. After one week, she joined the teller line to work with customers directly where she held many different responsibilities. Carol opened new accounts, answered telephones, and distributed mail while also carrying out secretarial duties. Additionally, she was in charge of typing up real estate and consumer loans.

Later, when Carol had her two children, she worked at The Bank of Elk River working on paid loans and collecting financial statements. Beginning in 2000, Carol worked in the Call Center and, in 2005, moved to the School Street Office as the receptionist. In 2007, she became a Consumer Banker and has been in that role ever since, most recently at the School Street office.

One does not fully understand Carol's impact until you see her lifelong customers drop off flowers, baked treats, or stop by to talk and catch up. Carol has set the standard for excellence in customer service, and The Bank of Elk River and our customers will miss her positive and friendly demeanor.

"I have enjoyed meeting new people and building relationships here at the bank as well as with my existing customers," said Carol. "I will miss so many of my customers as well as the day-to-day friendships with my co-workers. We have a fun group and dedicated staff here at The Bank of Elk River. I feel incredibly blessed to have worked at The Bank of Elk River."

Retail Branch Manager Shawn Butler said, "Carol goes above and beyond with each of our customers. She truly cares about every person, and her dedication to our customers has been an inspiration."

"Carol's positive attitude and desire to provide the highest level of customer service has helped her build lifelong relationships with customers throughout the past 45 years. Carol has been a huge asset to The Bank of Elk River and the customers she serves," said Pete Onstad, Director of Consumer Banking.

An internal celebration will take place within the organization. Please join us in congratulating Carol on her 45 years with The Bank of Elk River.
